About the trip
Numbers for this trip will be limited to only the most silly, experianced and commited rafters. Definitely not a beginner friendly trip.
Having never personally seen the gorge myself, I plan to conduct a walkthrough trip sometime between now and June. Sus out the get in/out and see how many trees we are likely to get coat hangered by. More details about this will be posted when I find time to walk the gorge. If anyone has details about paddling this then please reachout to me. If possible we may also inspect Buckland Gorge just down river for fun.
If this trip does go ahead, it will be hard grade 4 paddling in rather small rafts. We will need an astronomical level of rain to get it up enough to get the Angels down it. Walkouts are quite possible but should be relatively easy using the walking track on river right. I expect to have to carry the rafts in and out with no bridge access. If this goes ahead we will meet at the sheds, 7:30 am.
By the wiki river calculator from above the gorge to below
Total drop: 51 m
Avg gradient: 14.2 m/km
Peak gradient: 27.9 m/km (over steepest 1km section, The river seems to fall off the face of the earth on the big righthand bend after the gorge...)
Distance: 3.6 km
