Franklin River

This trip needs no introduction! It is one of the most powerful and aweinspiring rivers in Tasmania. This trip will take you through 8 days of the most stunning wilderness and wild whitewater in Tas! 

The plan will be to start very early Monday morning, drive up to the Collingwood bridge where we will put on, arriving at our first campsite on the Franklin that evening. We will then spend the next 7 days rafting the fantastic Franklin until we join the Gordon. From there we will make our way down to Sir John Falls where we will be picked up by the yatch Stormbreaker and ferried back to Strahan. One car shuttle later we should be arriving back where we started, to begin the drive home, arriving in Hobart late on the Wednesday.

This trip is not for the uninitiated. Due to it's length and risk I would expect every participant to be experianced rafting and comfortable swimming in whitewater. We will try to work with everyone to make this trip possible for them but do reserve the right to limit attendance. The best way to practice for this trip is to come along to a few different trips on rivers such as the North Esk, Bradies, Mersey, etc and jump on any other multiday trips that the club runs.

All the gear (except for sleeping gear) can be provided by the club. More precise details will be posted closer to the date. This trip is estimated to cost $950AUD and has a non-refundable deposit of $400 that is to be paid upon acceptance. This trip will only have 13 avaliable spots excluding the guides, so preference will be given to more active members. Signing up is an expression of interest. The due date for signups will be the 15th October and any sucessful applicants will be contacted soon after.
