About the trip
Welcome to the first canyoning trip of 2023!
This will be a beginner friendly introduction to canyoning for all our new members. This will be a very long day with a very early start! The $10 cost of this trip will cover all the rope and gear wear of canyoning. Unfortuantly we won't be able to have a BBQ as it will be a jammed packed day but we will stop for food on the way.Â
Due to gear and guide avaliability this trip will be limited to 6 people. If you miss the initial signups you will be put on a waiting list. Please let me know if you need to pullout asap.
The plan:
Meet at the sheds (see location of event) to pack gear at 5:30am then drive upto Dove Canyon at Cradle Mountain. We will have a quick stop at Campbell Town on the way get snacks. We should arrive at the Cradle around 10:30am where we will walk 20 mins to the start of the canyon. Ideally we will get a couple laps done before we head back to Hobart to clean up all the gear by 6-7pm. This will be a very long day out so please pack lunch and snacks.
Canyon description:
Dove Canyon is a commerically run canyon that involves two easy abseils and alot of jumping off waterfalls and go down The Laundry Chute, a 10m natural slide! This is a great beginner canyon for anyone comfortable swimming and jumping! Abseiling experiance is preferable but not necessary as we can teach you on the day.
If the level of Dove is too high then we will run Machinary Canyon instead. Machinary is all abseiling and floating in the sun with minimal jumping. The first abseil is the longest at 20m tall so if you suffer from vertigo this is not the canyon for you.
